So I've been thinking lately that there are alot of under-rated musical instruments out there that really were just never given a good shot. The keytar, the panpipes and the theremin to name a few. Why don't these instruments have more of a place in popular culture? Do people feel threatened by their inherent awesomeness?
Today I'm going to have a brief look the the theremin. Which is an amazing instrument just from the sheer coolness factor of not having any string or keys to press or play. People... in order to play this instrument, you just wave your hands in the air like you just don't care. Its that simple. One hand controls the pitch, the other hand controls the volume.
In the past, the theremin has been used to make creepy horror movie music, and that was what it was known for for a long time. In more recent years, with electronic music becoming more popular, the theremin was introduced to popular culture through bands like Nine Inch Nails.

AWESOME!! my favourite was the dog riding the bike hahaha. but seriously, that looks like an awesome instrument... i've never seen one in real life, but if the price is right i'd be tempted.
